How it all started...
We are a non-denominational church that firmly believes in the teaching of the whole Bible in a systematic way. We stress expository teaching, teaching of the Word of God verse by verse, chapter by chapter. We stress living in the power of the Holy Spirit, as this is the only way to live a victorious Christian walk. We also stress God's grace and what that looks like in the life of a believer.
Pastor Charlie Heffelfinger grew up in the small town of Monroe, Wisconsin. He was greatly influenced by the teaching of Chuck Smith (founder of Calvary Chapel) and burdened by the lack of verse by verse teaching in the churches of the Midwest. After serving in Calvary Chapel Pocatello, Idaho for about 10 years, Pastor Charlie and his family moved out to Rockford in 2014 to start a Calvary Chapel.
